If you're like many people,
you're tired of low pressure, dribbly showers that
take forever to get you clean. A high pressure
shower head could be the answer to your bathing
woes. Consider replacing your old, worn out model
with a new one that will give you a more pleasant,
satisfying shower. With some models, you don't even
have to worry about water conservation, since the
increased pressure allows you to take a shorter
shower, wasting less in the long run. A new,
powerful shower head could be the thing that changes
your showers from depressing to relaxing.
Of course, not all shower
heads that claim to offer high pressure really do.
That means that you might have trouble finding a
good one. There are three basic factors that will
tell you if the shower head you're looking at will
really give you a powerful spray. These are the flow
efficiency, stream integrity, and spray dispersion.
For a high pressure head to be really powerful and
soothing to the skin, it'll need to be good at all
three of these factors. Otherwise, you might wind up
with a garden hose effect or something like a
sprinkler. If you cna only get two factors in a
single
high pressure showerheads, however, look for
good stream integrity and flow efficiency.
Flow efficiency - This is a
measure of whether or not the showerhead converts
all the available pressure in the water supply into
pressure in the shower. Many people think that their
homes have low water pressure, when in fact they
just have a lousy shower head. If you live in an
area with fairly low water pressure, flow efficiency
is important. This is also a big factor in getting a
water saving high pressure showerhead that
still provides a high pressure shower.
Stream integrity - Shower
heads with good stream integrity will have streams
of water that stay uniform and symmetrical all the
way down. Streams that collide, are random, or are
inconsistent will provide a less pleasant shower.
Some shower heads provide good stream integrity when
there's a high pressure in the water supply, but
fail in areas where the water supply doesn't start
out at a good pressure level. If your shower head
has this problem, think about upgrading.
Spray dispersion - Good spray
dispersion means that the spray from the high
pressure shower head stays focused, instead of
splaying out at a wider angle. A happy medium is
often best for an enjoyable shower, since overly
focused streams can be a little overwhelming.
